Stung zine issue #16
'Stung' is a zine I make each month. As a photographer and visual artist, it's a place for me to share artwork, photos and text. It's a way for me to connect through sharing ideas, art and music.
Each month's full colour issue has a different theme, which will either be a reflection on a topic I'm interested in, or feelings about the world around me and my experiences.
Issue #16 is 20 pages and features a mix of original illustration and text.
I wanted to make another zine tribute to David Lynch, and for this zine decided to make art and write about all of his feature films.
Illustrating a character from each movie, I was thinking about how Lynch's films can feel disjointed on a surface level, but when you pay attention to what's being presented to you, you'll understand more.
I thought about the various themes in his films that recur like identify, disassociation and duality. And came up with the idea so slice up each portrait and reassemble it onto a hand painted background.
I then wrote about each movie. I hope this zine inspires you to revisit and rewatch his movies, or check out the ones you haven't seen 💙
Printed on 130gsm silk touch paper. Size A6.
